HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS and its impact worldwide is a priority international issue for UNISON. HIV/AIDS is a key workplace issue as a large number of those living with the disease are aged between 15 and 49, in the prime of their working lives.

As a trade union, UNISON can play a vital role in the struggle against HIV/AIDS. By working with sister unions, we are striving to ensure that workplace rights are upheld; education and training is made available to members and their families; and access to treatment and care is negotiated.

UNISON's involvement in the fight against HIV/AIDS includes campaigning in the UK for global action and providing practical support to southern African unions to strengthen their response to the pandemic.
