We want to
- Celebrate the national minimum wage. Getting the national minimum wage passed into law was a historic achievement. One that has made a real impact over the past ten years.
- Defend the national minimum wage. We know it has made a real difference to working people – not just because it guarantees a basic minimum income, but also because the level is regularly uprated.
- Improve the national minimum wage. We are committed to campaigning for a significant rise in the national minimum wage; bringing apprentices within the legislation; an end to the discrimination against young people; making sure the law is enforced more effectively; and greater publicity about the right to the national minimum wage.
