The Police and Justice Service Group looks after your interests at work and provides the framework for you to get involved in the union as a member, as a representative or as a branch official. The Service Group works on a number of levels:
Police and Justice Conference: an annual three day event for police, probation and cafcass branch representatives to come together to democratically set the policy for UNISON in police and justice. Members can propose motions via their branch to the conference.
Police and Justice Service Group Executive: police, probation and cafcass members elect representatives to sit on the Police and Justice Service Group Executive (SGE).The Executive is accountable to members and to the annual Service Group Conference. It sets Service Group policy and makes decisions between conferences.
Sector Committees: the Service Group has a number of sector committees, which as the name suggests are responsible for UNISON's negotiating agenda on the four national negotiating bodies which determine pay and conditions. The four sectors are:
- Police Staff Council (England and Wales)
- Police Staff Council (Scotland)
- Probation Service National Negotiating Council
